Masekele Ntene

Founder

Masekele, who has had a distinguished career in the Financial Services Industry, is the founder of Bataung Life. With a career spanning just over 16 years she has a deep understanding of Group Funeral, Group Life and Credit Life insurance.

She worked as senior underwriter at Aegis Insurance and later joined Nest Life Assurance Corporation Ltd where she was a Corporate Affairs Executive for over 11 years.

In her role she was tasked, among other things, with business development, business relationship management with intermediaries, reinsurers and client retention as well as compliance with the LTIA and FAIS Act. She added a feather to her cap when she closed a R36m API employee benefits corporate account.

Armed with a BCom Degree from the National University of Lesotho and having studied for Masters in Business Administration at the Business School of Netherlands, Masekele also worked for Momentum Investments, a division of MMI Holdings as Head of Stakeholder Relations.

Surprise Seema

Executive Chairman

Surprise kicked off his professional working career as a journalist at a regional paper called Ekurhuleni News.

His journalism career morphed into a profession in public relations and communications. Having gained extensive experience in the field of PR and Communications, Surprise landed a job at ADM Group as a Marketing Manager; a position he held for 3 years.

He joined B3 Insurance & Funeral Services after they head-hunted him for the position of Media Liaison Officer. This served as his introduction to the funeral insurance industry.

Seema’s star continued to shine when he was appointed as an executive member of the Skutu Mogafe Foundation reporting to the board.  He was later headhunted by Sekoko Group where he spent 3 years as an Executive Manager – Marketing and Communications. In 2014 he brokered a R72m API SAMWU voluntary book for Sekoko Life. This 10 year contract is underwritten by Hollard Life.

His last corporate engagement was with Old Mutual Mass Foundation Cluster where he worked as a Key Account Manager responsible for business development and client retention for group funeral schemes.

Zintle Rachilo

Sales & Marketing Executive

Zintle, who has been in the insurance industry for over 12 years, started off her career as a claims consultant and later as a marketing consultant for Best Funeral Society (TBFS), a subsidiary of Hollard Life. Her responsibilities included marketing and servicing consultants for South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) and Public Servants Association of SA (PSA).

She later joined SAMWUMED as Ekurhuleni Regional Marketer, responsible for servicing existing members and recruiting new members to the union’s medical aid scheme. She was head-hunted by SAMWU National Funeral Scheme for the position of Sales & Marketing Manager, where she supervised a team of 95 sales representatives.

Zintle is knowledgeable in marketing, conducting presentations to existing and potential clients as well as conducting road shows for the business. Her role includes recruiting and training sales consultants, union shop stewards, human resources and employee benefits officers.
